Spurs At The European Championships Thread

|

After a long, hard and ultimately disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur, we have a busy summer in store now as we look to both sort out our managerial situation as well as strengthen the group via the transfer market – as massive question being Harry Kane’s own future.

Whilst we’ll hopefully have our new manager in within a few weeks (or maybe our old manager given the Mauricio Pochettino rumours) it’s unlikely much will happen on a transfer front until we see the culmination of this summers European Championship competition.

In a world still dealing with Covid, personally, I think international football is slightly ridiculous at this moment in time, but money makes the world go round doesn’t it – Spurs fans will however have a natural interest in the tournament given the players and former players that should be on show.

If nothing else it’ll be a distraction for a few weeks – so anything Euro related can go in here VSers.

It seems Conte isn’t prepared to manage Spurs because he doesn’t believe our squad is capable of winning things………doh, that’s pretty bleeding obvious isn’t it? So he isn’t interested in building a winning squad, he just wants one handed on a plate to him. When he was first mooted I said I didn’t think he was a good fit for us, looks like I was right.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

We seem to be running out of options if there is absolutely no chance of getting Poch which seems to be the case. There is still one guy who might be worth looking at and that is Galtier, the guy who has just left Lille after leading them to the league title in France.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Just get it over with and announce Ryan Mason

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Klinsmann is still available isn’t he? 🙂

Your predictions were right, looks like it was all to do with trying to sell tickets. But when it comes to the bare bones of the business end, Levey seems to have reverted to type, he just won’t pay decent money. I could be wrong, but it looks like all parties involved had something to gain from this managerial “Payton Place”, Levey got to sell tickets, Poch got a contract extension, I don’t know what Conte got out of it, time will tell.
But it looks like that has ended, however I’m much like TQ here, not really despondent as he is Mourinho like in his approach. If this isn’t a shadow play and he actually does come.
I hope he is able to turn the team around, and that he gets the finincial support needed.
As currently we couldn’t win the meat raffle.

Does anyone know if dear old Arry is available?

  • TK says:

My the gods help us, Geof. Dear old Arry? Might as well get someone whose main experience has been as governor of the Old Vic. Maybe the ghost of Frank Butcher?

  • TK says:

with Dirty Den as Director of Football.

  • TK says:

Has a Premier League team every gone through a season without a manager? My choice is edging toward No One. Let the remaining players hold a meeting a few minutes before the beginning of each match and vote about who will start, what the plan is for the match, etc. Players who decide not to play will receive bonuses for their lack of mistakes on the pitch.

Our present reality is equal to such mad musings, no?

    • Geofspurs says:

TK …. We went through last season without a manager …. of course it depends on how you define ‘manager’.

  • TK says:

We really are looking like some plot line out of East Enders.

  • TK says:

Should be Wet Spam who would imitate East Enders. But Spurs seem to have taken on that role.

  • TK says:

Perhaps DL thought he was moving the club to China when he agreed to join the Super League. They call their top division the Chinese Super League. DL must be procuring there for our next manager.

  • TK says:

Not surprisingly, Wuhan, the home ground for COVID-19, has yet to win a match this season, 1 x 0 in their latest match to Tianjin Jinmen Tiger. DL’s dream of the Super League still can be realized.

  • TK says:

If embarrassment builds character, then we are on our way to sainthood.

The present saga truly is embarrassing. It’s like having a bowel movement with no door on the stall, no hygienic paper available, and the water turned off in the sink in the public toilet at the shopping mall.

DL gives new meaning to having Sticky Fingers.

  • TK says:

Surely this saga cements the desire of HK to run far and fast. I’d join him, but I’m too old to change my allegiance to a club in Yorkshire. Better to cash in my chips a leave this mortal casino.

  • TK says:

End of rant for the time being. I’m knackered by it all. Screw DL, Screw Conte. Maybe I should concentrate on the new Women’s Super Cricket League. The WSCL can’t be any worse than watching DL look for a manager.

  • TK says:

At least we’re guaranteed a place in the First Division for 2022-2023. There’s a limit to how far a club can fall in one season.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Seems Harry would need to be PL defender of the season as well as Golden Boot and Playmaker in order to win PL Player of the Season! I get that Dias has been excellent in his first season but honestly, does it have to be a player from the champions?

    • BelgianSpur says:

I suppose the reasoning was that both were very good individually but one led his team to glory.

  • TK says:

Rubin Dias? LOL. the English Super League has gone bonkers.

Time to leave the Premier League for the first division. this just goes to show that the head is firmly implanted up the bottom side.
