Spurs Go Into The Unknown, But It Could Be A Blessing

|

I’m not sure who it was who came up with the term “known unknowns” but it’s very definitely where football and Tottenham Hotspur are at, at the moment.

We have cancelled matches across Europe with no clue whether or not they will eventually be played. We have talk of the Euros being moved to next year but aren’t sure whether that will actually happen. Even without the public health problems, we don’t even know whether fourth or fifth will be needed for the Champions League.

The strange thing is from our perspective, the situation was already so bad it couldn’t get much worse. Depending on how it plays out the situation could actually work in our favour.

Does The Break Suit Spurs?

Yes, Get Everyone Fit & Drilled

No, Other Clubs Will Do The Same So We Don't Really Gain

Ideally, we want a nice long delay before football resumes with the Euros moved so that the various leagues can finish their seasons in the summer. This would have a number of pluses for us. First, of course, we would have time to get players fit. How different would the remainder of the season be if Kane and Son were available?

Second, it would give Jose a period to work full time with the players on the training ground. There’s a difference between a manager telling the players what he wants and drilling it into them with practice after practice. It’s hard to to get enough training in when you are playing twice a week, it’s dead easy if you aren’t playing at all. If the Euros are moved there’s a further bonus.

The World Cup really hurt us with players starting the season already tired from having no summer break. If we have no summer tournament we have the possibility of starting with an injury-free, fresh squad next season which would make a nice change.

Of course, like everyone else, the club would take much less of a financial hit if the season was eventually finished. In our case there are also the various events that may or may not take place at the stadium. So we want a break that lets us get our players fit, but still lets us stage as many of the concerts etc as possible, not sure how long that would be.

I’m also not sure how significant the loss of income would actually be. If every club ends up losing money this season then every club will have less to spend on players, the laws of supply and demand say that will mean prices go down. Theoretically, the financial impact may not be that great. Its all ifs, buts and maybes.

But we could end up looking back on this strangest of seasons and think we got out of jail.

Well, what can I say, but a massive thank you to all who gave there hearty replies to my “rant”, to be honest as a ex-serviceman the wanker trolls didn’t bring me down, it was the wife I was concerned about, but like all you who responded, her real friends came out of the woodwork, 98 posts, and defended her, and she is really feeling strong again, I should know her gob has re-commenced, lol! I love it.

A massive thanks again to all my Spurs oppo’s, and all Yids stay/keep safe and smiling COYS 4 ever.

And looking at the old sweets ahhh Munchies, Toffo. Those were the days. To all my fellow Spurs chums stay healthy.

I have the usual Sky, Netflix, my Amazon prime has lapsed (only used for the Christmas football) . I’ll reinstate it and get a few new Documentries, films, etc. Cheers. Still COYS.

PY… Im glad you and wife are dealing with these keyboard morons.

There’s some interest on twitter VDV to return to us as a coach. I would welcome that as he has the experience and ability to show dele and others how to be an AMF / ST. Academy players would also benefit…

Geoff agree with your post, they… VS are getting good income from adverts, so should be correcting the 2nd page problem.

Now Boris J has been checked as another Corona Virus victim… IMO the way this has spread and killed so many, is not a natural virus, its some thing that could be a lot more sinister..

  • PompeyYid says:

I had a rant off topic earlier, but I heard/read something locally, far sinister today…

Here goes, a nurse had just finished her 12hr shift at our local hospital the QA, when she saw someone hit her car and drove off, so she gave chase after the car, she caught up with said “guilty party” and on approaching the car, an 85 year old fell/collapsed out of the drivers seat, the nurse then discovered this elderly gent had not eaten for 10 days, and though he had not driven for about 8/9 years he was so desperate to get food he drove his car, thus accident, the accident could have been far worse caused by desperation.

The nurse got him to hospital and stayed with the gent for a further 5 hours holding his hand.

Other than well done to the nurse, you are a hero, how can someone who is elderly be left like that? what happened to the good neighbourly/helping hands? we keep hearing about, and what sort of world are we currently living in?

I am disgusted with the whole scenario, it seems this pandemic is bringing out the good and really bad in people.

Another rant over, sorry fellow Spurs fans, keep safe all of you. COYS 4 ever.

    • TQ2Spurs says:

PY…….the poor guy was only 73, not 85, and he sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning. 🙁

I echo your sentiments regarding the heroic efforts being made by those who care for us.

      • PompeyYid says:

TQ2S….thanks for the update, makes my rant even worse him passing, being only 73 its no age, because of basically nobody lifting a finger to help, except of course the “hero” nurse. COYS 4 ever

  • PompeyYid says:

Because of my second rant, I forgot to thank you block 108 spurs for your comments to me, so thank you.

You and your kin keep safe. COYS 4 ever

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

I hope all Spurs fans are safe and well. I must say that the applause last night for the NHS staff was incredibly emotional.

I have a few recommendations on the TV front – my wife and are are very sad, we like nothing better than sitting watching box sets. Apologies if you are already aware of these:

I agree with PompeyYid – Bosch is excellent. There are five series with another coming soon
Also on Amazon Prime is Spiral which has about seven series. it is a French cop drama – very gritty and well worth a watch.
Has anyone seen Dexter, it is about a guy who works for Miami Police Department but he has serial killer tendencies. He only goes after the bad guys though – there are six or seven series and is really good.
If you want a good American cop show I recommend Chicago PD. At least six series on Amazon Prime – an outstanding show.
There’s lots of great stuff out there to keep us going until the football is back.
    Stay safe everyone

  • PompeyYid says:

DH….well recommended “Chicago PD” and “Dexter” both excellent.

If you want a laugh Yank style, I have a sick sense of humour, try watching a Canadian “sit com” called “Corner Gas” its so stupid you can’t help but laugh and makes you think. COYS 4 ever.

  • 123spurs says:

If you like cop drama with corruption, gets better with every season “the shield”

  • 62rovinella says:

we are behind england here in jamaica…seen some dark videos from there plus news.you all try to keep safe and best wishes to those who may or have contracted the virus.
its now spreading here and as for the elderly man and bringing out the worst in people,if you cough or sneeze beside anyone here it can be fatal….crazy times ,crazy people.
    be safe and coys

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

123spurs – great shout re the Shield. Have’nt seen it in a few years. Definitely one worth going back to. A really hard hitting US cop drama. Talking of police corruption, how about Line of Duty as a UK police corruption drama. Truly outstanding. Someone recommended Orphan Black to me the other day – any thoughts guys and girls.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Talking of dramas. I don’t think there will be anything to top the All or Nothing Spurs drama. Out in early July apparently. I’m more excited about this one than I was about every new series of 24.

  • PompeyYid says:

Great shout there…”the Shield” brilliant, forgot about that. How about “Hill Street Blues” remember that cop drama.

DH…yes its looks to be a “great Drama” the All or Nothing Spurs, whens the release date lol! COYS 4 ever
