3 Tackles, 5 Clearances & 2 Blocked Shots – Spurs Youngster Seizes His Chance To Impress On A Poor Day

|

With four defeats on the spin for Tottenham Hotspur across all competitions, few expected today’s trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley to be easy in any way, shape or form.

A very poor performance in the first half saw us only get one effort on target and with the hosts clearly on top, they more than deserved their 13th minute lead and come the break it could well have been far more.

Burnley MotM?

Jan Vertonghen

Giovani Lo Celso

Dele Alli

Japhet Tanganga

Second half after a double change, and manager Jose Mourinho making no bones about his disquiet with Tanguy Ndombele’s performance, the changes did spark a reaction and we were much better – but needed Dele Alli’s 50th minute penalty to earn us a point on the day.

Statistics website Whoscored had some strange player ratings after that one and although I’d more point to the introduction of Gio Lo Celso and his impact, they gave their Man of the Match to youngster Japhet Tanganga with a score of 7.79.

Completing the top five best performers in their eyes were Hugo Lloris (7.60), Eric Dier (6.96), Dele Alli (6.85) and Lucas Moura (6.75).

FYI Lo Celso was rated below Tanguy Ndombele, and I’m sure people will have their own thoughts about that.
