Tottenham Hotspur are battling hard for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season but no matter what happens this term, there are positive signs for Ange Postecoglou’s side going forward.
A team that have found a playing identity under the former Celtic boss, Spurs are building something in the capital and their wait for significant silverware might come to an end next season.

Postecoglou Brings Feel-Good Factor Back To Spurs

There were a few eyebrows raised when Postecoglou was given the Spurs job last year but the Australian tactician has silenced many of his doubters this term. While rivals Arsenal, who are 5/2 in the Premier League winner odds this season, have challenged for trophies under manager Mikel Arteta, Tottenham struggled under the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte. However, the arrival of Postecoglou has brought new life to Spurs, who are 5/6 in the Premier League betting tips to finish in the top four this season. The loss of star striker Harry Kane at the start of the campaign was a significant hurdle for Postecoglou to overcome early in his tenure but he’s moved the team on tremendously well.

Injuries have also plagued Spurs at times this season, with summer signing James Maddison spending just over three months out with an ankle injury suffered against Chelsea in November. Missing 13 games in that time, the England international was a significant loss after making a flying start to life at Tottenham after his summer move from Leicester City. Maddison’s injury was just one of a host of injuries Postecoglou had to deal with but, even with the setbacks, the club are still pushing for a return to the Champions League next season.

Foundations There To End Trophyless Spell

Last winning the League Cup back in 2008, Tottenham supporters have been waiting patiently for their side to lift a significant trophy once again. Spurs almost ended the wait in glorious fashion in 2019 but suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final. Mauricio Pochettino was the man to take the club to the showpiece event of European football but after the defeat to the Reds, things quickly unraveled for the Argentine manager.

Postecoglou seems like the first manager since Pochettino to bring a feel-good factor back to the Lilywhites, with a squad that has bought into the way the Aussie wants to play. With Spurs believed to be looking at potential investors this year, Postecoglou could be given significant funds to strengthen his squad this summer. Of course, qualifying for the Champions League would help greatly to lure the top tier of players to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But no matter what happens this season, Spurs are a team moving in the right direction and Postecoglou has played a huge role in that progress. A team that now has a tangible football philosophy, excitement is growing on what this side can potentially achieve next season in their hopes of ending their long wait for silverware.
