Spurs At The European Championships Thread

|

After a long, hard and ultimately disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur, we have a busy summer in store now as we look to both sort out our managerial situation as well as strengthen the group via the transfer market – as massive question being Harry Kane’s own future.

Whilst we’ll hopefully have our new manager in within a few weeks (or maybe our old manager given the Mauricio Pochettino rumours) it’s unlikely much will happen on a transfer front until we see the culmination of this summers European Championship competition.

In a world still dealing with Covid, personally, I think international football is slightly ridiculous at this moment in time, but money makes the world go round doesn’t it – Spurs fans will however have a natural interest in the tournament given the players and former players that should be on show.

If nothing else it’ll be a distraction for a few weeks – so anything Euro related can go in here VSers.

Nino gone, Potter not interested, Gerard not interested. It has to be Martinez when the Euros are over. If Levy had anything about him (we know he doesn’t) he would fall on his sword, hopefully taking Paratici with him.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

DH….he is just going through the motions while he waits for Pochettino to negotiate his exit from PSG. πŸ™‚

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

TQ2spurs – we can dream. I think it could be Martinez once the Euros are over. in all honesty with Levy and Paratici running the show, it really doesn’t matter who the next victim is.
About 2,500 people didn’t renew their season tickets – they went done to 30,000 on the waiting list to replace them and there is a membership specifically for those on the waiting list . Levy take note.

  • 62rovinella says:

This manager search is getting really embarrassing .,klinsman seems to be the only one aside from poch who really wants the job.
If poch is available next season give him a year ,I really don’t want mason back playing his friends and ignoring the rest of the squad.
Don’t mind me…it’s called fed up talk from mental overwait…..coys

  • PompeyYid says:

Donny, you talk of Paratici falling on his sword, for fcuks sake why? he doesn’t even officially start his job for us as DOF until later this week July 1st, the same time as all the non-international players returning for pre-season, fitness being the first part.

Everything that is being moaned about is pure media bullshit and speculation, so many taking it hook line and sinker, lets just wait and see from the official channels.

In my opinion I believe the new coach/manager will be announced at the same time as the DOF starting and the players returning from their hols. COYS

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Hello Pompey, I hope all is well with you and your family – I just don’t get a good vibe from this Paratici fella – it seems to me that a lot of his work is based on self-interest. I could of course be completely wrong.
Regarding the manager, 70 days without an appointment, I am sure the media stories are a little more than speculation, otherwise what has Levy been doing all this time.
Regarding the players returning from their hols, most of them were on holiday for most of last season so it could be a bit of a shock for them.
The new manager announcement next week is of course dependent on us appointing anyone – “THFC are proud to appoint Ryan Mason as our new head coach. His responsibility will be purely motivational as Paratici will be signing the players and deciding the formation”.

    • PompeyYid says:

Donny, Thanks mate me n mine are doing pretty good considering, I do hope you and your kin are the same.

I do get your feelings regards Paratici, but he does have a good rep, check him out via Danny Rosing lol!
The vast majority of the media “news!” is bullshit started by agents, esp the Italians, who have an axe to grind, you say what has Levy been doing all this time, well I think with the aid of our new DOF, who doesn’t officially start work for 2 days, a new coach has been appointed and is just waiting to be announced.

Agreed regards our players being on a long holiday, lol!, check out Moaninio there, and that they are in for a shock fitness/training wise, it seems Ryan Mason is taking charge of that training, temporarily.

      Keep well n safe mate.

  • Niall D says:

I suppose I’m much like PY here, just take a sitting brief, I still like raising the odd suggestion, but in reality there is no great panic until the Euros are over, Perhaps Levy is waiting until Martinez is free from his international duties or perhaps another manager in a similar position, likewise recruiting and getting rid of players will also be mostly on hold until after the Euros, with perhaps an odd bit of business. But I suppose as PY has said, the media have to write something to fill the blanks…

  • wentworth says:

    Helloooo.Is anyone out there?

Potter is a no no. He would rather wait for a top 4 club.

Is Nu no a no no?

    When will Paracite start?

    Will it be Gerard?

Will Ryan carry on till the end of the year?

Will we be able to sell all our average players?

Will any decent players join such a dysfunctional club?

    Lots of unanswered questions.

    • PompeyYid says:

      wentworth, am here lol!

Read between the lines what Potter said, basically he wants complete control of the way things football wise go, no DOF, just deal with the CEO.

NU as far as I know has gone elsewhere.

Paraciti starts officially on July 1st.

RM is temporarily running the fitness training, and no he will not be charge until the end of the year.

Your last 2 questions nobody can answer until the new man looks at the squad at his disposal.

  • 123spurs says:

Who does Potter think he is, brighton just avoided going down. Thank god we did get an ego like that, let’s see where he ends up after brighton. Top4 club ur having a laugh.

    • 62rovinella says:

Been laughing so hard it hurts…..potter waiting on mancity…..or another top four club…… guys got big nightmares……my word……πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ€£πŸ€£

  • Niall D says:

I’m with you there 123, always had the look of a rabbit in the headlights, let him stay at a lower end club because in reality that is his limit, in reality he was never in our sights, we’re too big for the likes of him. Playing a bit of decent football with little expectation doesn’t make you ready for a top team.
And by top I mean a team that actually matters on a worldwide stage.

  • block 108 spurs says:

G Potter has shown his true feelings and ego… he has not got the track record for Man city or any top 4 club. It takes IMO.. 5years of top level trophy wining and personality skills to match at the same level, as world class players, and club owners. So while he has the ambition, and some basic level management skills .he’s nowhere near the wining records. Sadly he was my choice for spurs, but not anymore …

  • wentworth says:

Didier to PSG and Poch to Spurs…..please.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Guys, Potter hasn’t said a word about Spurs, or managing Spurs. It was just some journo’s opinion on what he thinks Potter might want. It all means Sweet FA!

This is what I just don’t understand. Why do so many football supporters and sports fans in general, seem to base so much of their opinions on simple hearsay, bullshit gossip and other (faceless) peoples random thoughts?

I’m no fan of Potter or many of the coaches that have been linked with Spurs. But none of the links (as far as I can tell) have actually been substantiated or proven to be factual.

I’d like to know how many gullible football supporters there are out there, that gamble and place bets on such made-up nonsense. I imagine, quite a few.

It’s mostly nonsense that is promoted by sites and organisations that are affiliated to or sponsored by gambling sites! The main culprit being Sky Sports and Sky Bet….

    Wise up all and relax!

I joked about our new boss being a young unknown called Billy Burkinshaw. But this is no less believable (I believe), than most of what is written, and no matter the source… Honest! It’s true! πŸ™‚

    Down with the Bull!
    Up the Spurs!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Blimey, even Jose advertises for a betting company. And all whilst he was our manager! Along with many others that are involved in the game, one way or another.

    This is not on!

  • PompeyYid says:

Morning HT, how are you and your kin keeping, good I hope!

Your last 2 posts, good n funny, but so bloody true, so many believe the utter tripe n bullshit that comes out of the media it is untrue.

Don’t forget the media’s job is big brother brainwashing, which they do excellently.

  • Niall D says:

    Hi folks
Hope all is OK your end and that you’re looking forward to tonite’s game, I just can’t see England losing this, they are a much better team and I think Germany have quite a few “past it” players but they are like our West Ham in many ways, England on many occasions have out played Germany, Italian 90, Euro 96 but still ended up on the wrong side of the result, much like us with W/Ham, Germany always get the bounce of the ball, mind you look at France last nite.
HT re Billy Burkinshaw, what it’s not for real, πŸ˜‰
Mr Levy himself has told supporters not to believe many of the stories cooked up by the press but we still fall for it,
If we look at Palace, now the Board must have known that “Woy” was going since Christmas and they could’ve and should’ve had someone lined up, no one signed, Wolves, Everton again without managers for a similar time to us and whilst there are names “lined up” for these clubs there is still no man in the hot seat, I think in this case there is still no great rush and that the actual name(s) are in the departure lounge awaiting confirmation.

  • PompeyYid says:

How’s about this for a conspiracy theory, manager not appointed until players return, thus saving money, with all the players away, International duties, holidays etc, so nothing for new coach/manager to do, as I said saving money, just a thought lol! COYS

  • Frank says:

    To be posted this week.
    WANTED
North London PL club have a vacancy for a 1st team coach. Must be able to work on a very limited budget, withstand constant levels of interference, and high levels of ambition will not be encouraged. It must be understood that the club prefers to be in a “safe group” of nearly clubs, rather than invest the required cash to be fully competitive. The working environment is excellent with a brand new training ground and stadium available. The salary available will be average, and will include luncheon vouchers and a bus pass.

  • Niall D says:

To all my Spurs English chums, good result tonite, great for Premier League football.
The stars are pretty much aligned. Well done. That’s the millstone off yer neck.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

From the high of the England win only to be brought down to earth by the imminent appointment of Nuno Santos as manager. How depressing. Paritici, Levy and Mendes will be happy as will the cast offs we will inevitably sign but no one else will be. What a sad state of affairs at Spurs.
