Tottenham could well need a defender or two come the summer and according to TEAMtalk the club is lining up a move for Dejan Lovren.
It looks increasingly likely that Jan Vertonghen will depart at the end of his contract after many fine years of service, and therefore Jose Mourinho needs to find a replacement.
Lovren is also wanted by Arsenal, West Ham and Crystal Palace, but his addition is a rather daunting prospect for Spurs fans, and perhaps rightly so.
Is the club making a mistake by targeting Dejan Lovren?
Yes
No
He is clearly not valued by Jurgen Klopp – playing just nine league games this term – and if he is deemed not good enough for Liverpool then we, as a rival, perhaps shouldn’t be so keen to add him to the squad.
His 22 league appearances since the start of 2018/19 indicate he has had injury issues, too, and in games against Tottenham he has proved incapable of dealing with the threat of Harry Kane, who has scored four goals in his last five games against the Reds.
That doesn’t bode well, and goes some way to explaining the hostile reaction to this transfer report, which can be found below.
Hope this isnt true.
Lovren is awful and shows massive lack of ambition if we even consider what is a mid table player at best— Tony Smith ↗️ (@tsmith1873) March 30, 2020
Don’t you dare allow it levy

Please no. Liverpool can’t wait to get rid of him so why should we take him even if Liverpool are miles ahead of us.

Think I would rather buy Sol Campbell than Lovren. Would be the most uninspired signing ever

West Ham are also interested. He is very much their level!
If Tottenham are genuinely seeking to improve their defense then signing Lovren is both futile and pointless because it will not achieve this end. Lovren is both slow and error prone, as Spurs themselves have exposed in past meetings! He would be an abject waste of money and offer nothing to reinvigorate our already fragile defensive system… a complete No No!
