Spurs Word On The Tweet

“The English Foyth”, “Calamity” – Many Spurs fans are not happy with transfer link

|

Many Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours linking them to Manchester City defender John Stones – and it seems they would rather they left him be.

Reports in the Daily Star suggest that the England international’s time at the club is seemingly coming to an end, with Pep Guardiola looking to strengthen his back four in the upcoming window, which could reportedly see Leonardo Bonucci come through the door.

After the defender was purchased from Everton for Β£47.5m in 2016, he has failed to live up to the price tag and kick on, despite having two Premier Leagues, a League Cup and two FA Cups to his name from his short time at City.

Spurs fans do not need reminding that in that time they have won zilch.

Would you like to see us sign John Stones?

Yes please

No thanks

Nevertheless, there isn’t much to suggest that he will turn Mourinho’s defence around, considering that the player has really failed to find his feet this campaign.

In a season which has seen City’s star centre back in Aymeric Laporte be injured for the majority of it, Stones has still not been able to claim a regular place, with Nicolas Otamendi and Fernandinho being a preferred option in the Frenchman’s absence.

As you can tell from the responses below, Stones doesn’t quite seem Spurs’ fans cup of tea.

Popular fan account @COYS_com asked fans whether they would be happy about the signing, and plenty got in touch saying that they would much rather they didn’t.

Here are some of those responses below..
