With speculation on the rumour mill exploding at the weekend when it came to Tottenham Hotspur’s apparent interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn, Spurs fans were certainly excited at the possibility of bringing the 22-year-old talent on board at White Hart Lane.
With there being an expectation that the deal will soon be announced with reports that he’s already in the country to finalise contract terms and undergo his medical, in many ways, most will hope that the deal is confirmed before this even goes out on timer later this evening.
Former Spurs midfielder Rafael van der Vaart certainly seemed to be excited about his countryman come to the club when he was asked for his thoughts on social media yesterday evening.
Should it all really happen, I believe that Bergwijn will certainly be a great signing for Spurs. Obviously he will have to adjust to the PL pace and ambience but his speed, technique and strength will certainly add something to the Spurs game. Good luck to Stevie and my Spurs 🍀

VDV is right, he’ll need time to settle in given the differences between the Eredivisie and the Premier League, but the Dutch international seems to have all the qualities necessary to have a big impact in the years to come.
