Transfer News: Premier League rivals close to agreeing deal for out of favour Tottenham man

|

Tottenham supporters have had a mare this season when it’s come to their full-backs. Across the season so far the Lilywhites have seen Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies, Danny Rose and Japhet Tanganga used at left-back and Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Moussa Sissoko, Juan Foyth, Davinson Sanchez and Tanganga at right-back.

If that tells you anything, it’s that improvements are needed, although first, it seems the Lilywhites are going to ship out a few players. According to recent reports, the first one to be out of the door looks like being the young Walker-Peters, who, despite impressing fans, just hasn’t had a look in under either Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho.

With that in mind, The Daily Mail have claimed that the 22-year-old could be on his way this window and that Southampton are eyeing up a move for the attacking full-back. The south coast club are looking for a new option on the right of their back four, and an initial loan for Walker-Peters with an obligation to buy looks like a smart move.

The Saints have already beaten Tottenham in the Premier League this season, and have forced the Lilywhites into a replay in the FA Cup 4th round which is due to be played in the coming weeks, and by then we may see Walker-Peters lining up against his former club.

The report from The Daily Mail claims:

‘Southampton are confident of securing the signature of Kyle Walker-Peters before Friday’s transfer deadline.’

Should Kyle Walker-Peters leave?

Yes

No

‘The south coast club are set to land defender Walker-Peters on an initial loan with talks ongoing over whether the deal will also include an option or obligation to buy for a fee of around £12m.’

‘The 22-year-old has only made five appearances this season and just one under new manager Jose Mourinho but will give Southampton another option at right-back with Cedric Soares out with a knee injury and Yann Valery just returning to full fitness.’
