Spurs Word On The Tweet

“He is right”, “Time for ENIC to bow out” – Lots of Spurs fans react to Gary Lineker comments

|

Tottenham have got themselves in hot water in recent days by taking the substantial step to place all non-playing staff on furlough.

Newcastle and Norwich have also decided to do the same, and that has sparked a conversation about the ethics involved in such a decision, and whether players should be playing their part by making a contribution of their own wages, which would go a long way given the comparative wages of many staff.

On Friday Manchester United captain Harry Maguire called on his teammates to make a 30% contribution of their salary to charity, which shows that others are making positive strides.

Was the club wrong to place staff on furlough?

Yes

No

Gary Lineker was critical of the direction taken by the Spurs hierarchy, as he opposed the poor treatment of staff, and many of our fans have agreed with his comments.

It was good to see Toby Alderweireld donating tablets to hospitals, and hopefully it is only a matter of time before our players do their bit, and help out those associated with the club who may be in more vulnerable situations.

Just another in a whole catalogue of mistakes which has people questioning the way THFC are effectively run under Levy’s questionable management management style. Not only do I believe he is holding the club back in footballing terms, but recent events have demonstrated and cold calculating side to our chairman that has people now questioning his moral and ethical compass. I have long felt that Tottenham’s credibility is being undermined by a man who has been happy to take the highest rewards for himself, but reluctant to do so in many other matters concerning THFC. It is perhaps ironic that the one good thing to come out of his tenure is the introduction of a long planned new stadium, lauded by many as one of the best in Europe, but even that has been fraught with developmental problems and controversial delays which have been highly criticised by pundits and media alike. But this appears also to have cost Spurs in terms of their footballing staure, where a lack of worthy investment and strategy has seen a marked decline in their ability and performances on the pitch where arguably it matters most. In all honesty I cannot see Tottenham celebrating any noteworthy success under Levy’s austere and miserable guidance and look forward to a time when the club seek a different path and philosophy to the present one which has seen such intense ridicule and scrutiny of late, indeed for me the sooner Levy goes the better though sadly I suspect that won’t be anytime soon and both Spurs and its fans will continue to suffer!

I’m old enough to remember Spurs under The Wales dynasty and the ethos was on winning. We bought the best players and was very successful. I fear under the present regime this ethos is sadly lacking and we can see the results. It is blindingly obvious that Spurs will continue to underachieve until a new stewardship is in place. One which will once again instill a winning mentality where the main objective is not profit.

    WITHOUT PREJUDICE
    Some very good comments.
The worst thing about the enforced furlough by the THFC board is that it would be deemed racist by some committee somewhere to point out the fact that Spurs have always parsimonious in their expenditure.
The worst aspect is the recently publicised financials, and the payout to Levy of several millions as part of the perks of his position as Chairman. Add to that the obscene images of that UGLY super-yacht (an Oxymoron if ever there was one) belonging to Lewis and the simple facts are that the ENIC board ONLY wants to make money. Levy should – if he had any decency at all – have kept ALL staff on the payroll and paid their wages from his immoral (albeit – in law – perfectly legal) bonus!
Whilst the new stadium is glorious, the current management board etc are not. And with Mr Lewis hiding away in the Carib making money on his currency trades, he is sitting on a team that under Pochetino at least had a chance despite even though things went awry after the CL Final. And Mourinho needs a full season yet.
I’m with Lineker on this one. ENIC must go – perhaps they could find another source to ruin in, say Switzerland!!
