With all eyes on Tottenham Hotspurs’ trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff, on Friday the latest television changes were announced for the top flight.
Predictably, Spurs featured pretty heavily in the selections and we’ve had four fixtures booted around to suit the broadcasters. One fixture, in particular, remains open to change, as it certainly doesn’t do us any favours.
The game against Brighton has been moved to a Sunday afternoon kickoff, despite Spurs being in potential Champions League quarter-final action that week.
Reacting to the changes, Standard journalist Jack Rooser posited.
#thfc Game against Brighton, which comes the weekend before Champions League quarter-final first leg, has been moved to 4.30pm on the Sunday.
Match could be moved again dependant on Brighton’s FA Cup run but another change Poch will be furious at. https://t.co/dem7LaOQDs

Taking to social media to give their own reactions, plenty of Spurs fans were hoping that Brighton did extend their FA Cup run so that the game had to be rearranged again so we have longer to rest ahead of potential quarter-final action, as we already have one big foot in the door following the first leg 3-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Does the FA want poor Europe performance? Other leagues seem to move matches forward more often than backward to give extra rest.
That said, Spurs have done incredibly well during their congested fixture runs.

Surely would be moved again if we’re drawn to play on the Tuesday night In the Champions League?

Typical it's our game they decide to move and gives us less time to prepare for (hopefully) one of the biggest games of our season! Absolute joke! Lets hope Brighton make it through so that the game has to be moved AGAIN #COYS #THFC ⚽️

Sky are a blight on the English game.

How much sway do Spurs have over this decision? Are they allowed to push back in return for not getting the additional money for showing the game?

Well surprise, surprise Liverpool appear to be kicking off later than us and City every time ???? Why not have us playing two days running to really push home their advantage ? #agenda???

Oh @SpursOfficial You kill me!! Why? You’ve really done everything in your power to inconvenience all your fans this year. ???? #COYS #THFC

With manager Mauricio Pochettino previously questioning why the English game seems to work against clubs in Europe with selections, this latest decision seems to prove him even more right.
