Match Thread – Will He Kepa His Place Against Spurs

|

Sunday’s EFL Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester City wasn’t a very memorable affair but goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s refusal to come off the pitch when manager Maurizzo Sarri tried to substitute him was almost as shocking as it was hysterical to the onlookers.

With Sarri seeming to hand himself his P45 as he stormed towards the tunnel, before realising that a quick walk down Wembley Way would complicate a compensation claim when he receives the inevitable sack – most are actually wondering if he’ll even appear in the dugout on Wednesday evening as Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip to Stamford Bridge for our next Premier League encounter.

Following defeat to Burnley and the acceptance that our title dreams are over for this year, with Liverpool dropping points against Manchester United as both sides played out a draw – the result in the last one feels even more bitter, but a solid victory over Chelsea given the state they are in will leave plenty looking at the results page with optimism.

Whatever will be, will inevitably be, but manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to make Sarri’s bad week even more awful.
