“What’s Wrong With Southgate” – Not Everyone Is Happy With Latest England Squad

|

England manager Gareth Southgate announced his provisional squad for the upcoming Nations League clashes, and entirely as expected, Tottenham Hotspur feature a strong contingent in the group – including Harry Kane and Harry Winks.

With plenty of fans taking to social media to send their congratulations and you’d fully expect from our fanbase, others were quick to question the decision to include players recovering from or currently suffering from injury.

As most fans know, albeit some don’t, the club has no discretion when receiving a call up from a country and we can’t deny it as even if a player is injured, his country can demand he turns up for assessment by their medical staff first if they want to be pedantic, and plenty are.

There are those managers and clubs who definitely seem to play the injury game and I can only presume their players were happy with that, our problem is, our lads want to play international football, so seeking to deny them that is creating a rod for our own back.

We can only hope Southgate is sensible here and looks towards the bigger picture.
