With plenty of speculation swirling around White Hart Lane this summer when it comes to potential incomings and outgoings, one rumour that gained traction for a while, before then going quiet, was Tottenham Hotspur’s potential interest in Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.
Report Claims Spurs Have Moved Into Pole Position & Opened Talks With £43m Target
The 22-year-old scored 13 goals in 33 La Liga games for his club in the campaign of 2018/19, as well as contributing five assists. West Ham United had apparently fallen out of the race and Liverpool had cooled their own interest when the news last got an airing on the rumour mill, but it returned last week with The Daily Mirror claiming that the Hammers were back in the chase for him – but he was holding out on doing a deal as he wanted to see if we would firm up our own reported interest in him.
Given the Mirror’s report is more of a roundup and they offer up absolutely no proof of their claim when it comes to Gomez dragging his heels, I’m naturally sceptical here but plenty of fans saw the humourous side to the suggestion.
