‘Liability in so many different ways’: Lots of Tottenham fans want the club to ‘flog this waste of space’

Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier was in action for the Ivory Coast on Friday, however, he was unable to play the full match after being forced off in the second half with an injury that has potentially ended his African Cup of Nations tournament.

Speaking to The Star afterwards, the Spurs defender admitted that he felt a ‘tear’ and believes that he will play no further part in the competition.

He said: “I think it may be over because I felt something. It may be a tear.”

Injuries have plagued his time at Tottenham and last season was hardly any better for the Ivorian as according to Transfermarkt, he only managed to make 17 appearances across all competitions, missing 27 matches through various problems.

We wrote in a previous article here on Vital Spurs that his performance against Uganda could have given Mauricio Pochettino something to think about in the future as there has been talk about him possibly being offloaded this summer (The Sun) – that idea seems to have gone out the window now!

Aurier has split opinions amongst the fans during his time with us though and it does not appear as his latest setback has many in a sympathetic mood on Twitter.

Upon learning the news that he was facing another spell on the sidelines, fans took to the social media site to slam him once again and called for him to shipped off somewhere else this summer.

One stated that he was a ‘liability in so many different ways’ whilst another said he’d ‘flog this waste of space’.

Here are just some of their reactions…
