Report Claims Spurs Have Moved Into Pole Position & Opened Talks With £43m Target

|

It’s been claimed this week that Tottenham Hotspur are now in pole position to secure the capture of £43million rated striker Maxi Gomez, with West Ham United falling out of the race and Liverpool said to have cooled their own interest in the Uruguayan.

The 22-year-old Celta Vigo attacker has been a regular on the summer transfer rumour mill these last few months and he’s scored 13 La Liga goals in 33 starting appearances and two substitute showings during their 2018/19 campaign and he also chipped in with five assists.

Admittedly the ‘pole position’ claim comes from the Daily Star so there has to be a high degree of scepticism here, but again it’s a story that just won’t go away.

With a reported £43million release fee, if West Ham and Liverpool have now dropped out of the running, there’s potentially the option to cut a better deal with Celta Vigo unable to lean on competition and a bidding war, but we’ll have to see.
