According to the Sun, Napoli are now not going to pursue Kieran Trippier this summer after it had looked as though he’d be going there in the window initially.
The right-back looks a real possibility to leave in this window and the Naples outfit had been seriously linked with a move for him.
However, it has been revealed that they want to sign a younger option than the former Burnley man this summer now and it remains to be seen where exactly that leaves him.
Of course, he’d surely still be welcome to stay at the club for next season but it seems as though Mauricio Pochettino is open to finding a replacement for that side of the defence next year.
Whether or not this scuppers those plans in the window, though, remains to be seen and it is certainly a bit of a shock to see it fall flat on its face.
