Explained: Midfielder has uncertain Tottenham future, player in talks with Championship club

|

Josh Onomah could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer after falling down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino. The 22-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Spurs but has amassed only 807 minutes of football.

Onomah has spent the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and doesn’t appear to have a future at Tottenham. His last outing for the Londoners came against Watford on April 8, 2017 and has been shipped out on loan ever since – Aston Villa (August 4, 2017 – May 31, 2018), Wednesday (August 31, 2018 – May 31, 2019).

Pete O’Rourke of the Football Insider recently revealed that the Owls opened talks to sign Onomah permanently while Alasdair Gold of Football.London has claimed that the centre-midfielder was overlooked in the first-team and has been allowed to leave for an early summer holiday.

Onomah has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Sheff Wed, making three assists. The England u21 international has racked up 904 minutes of football in the Championship, averaging 31 passes-per-game with 83% accuracy.

The midfielder created nine chances, won 36% of his aerial duels, made 10 successful dribbles (50%), blocked 25 shots/crosses/passes, made eight clearances and averaged a tackle (30) or interception (11) every 22 minutes.
