Spurs Word On The Tweet

“Nowhere near Eriksen” – Many Spurs fans destroy “overrated” £36m-rated star who’s a “flop”

|

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of qualifying for the Europa League were boosted substantially this afternoon after they thrashed Leicester City 3-0 in north London but some supporters weren’t happy with their midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso.

Jose Mourinho can thank Heung-min Son and Harry Kane for their quickfire goals in the first half, the latter netting himself a brace in classic fashion.

Spurs move up into sixth place and could solidify those European claims if Wolves fail to beat Palace on Monday evening.

Though many were unimpressed with their Argentinian playmaker, calling him everything from being a “flop” to “overrated”.

Should Lo Celso be dropped?

Absolutely!

No way!

Per SofaScore, Lo Celso lost possession 16 times, committed three fouls and only made 16 accurate passes during the 77 minutes he was on the pitch.

There were even some shouts asking Mourinho to drop the 24-year-old whilst he was also blasted as “trash” and “pathetic”.

Since joining the club permanently in January, the £36m-rated star has only provided one assist in the Premier League from 27 appearances, via WhoScored – it’s simply not good enough.

Here’s the best of the reaction…

What are these idiots on about?

      • Guillermo says:

Never mind the fact he started the counter attack for the first goal yesterday by winning the ball, running at the defence, providing a good pass for Lucas Moura.

Oh, and did these fans see his display at Everton? And I’m not talking about the goal he created, but the number of times he won the ball back to help keep our lead.

These aren’t fans, they don’t even know how football is played smh.

You so called Spurs supporters are a disgrace. You continuously rubbish our players and undermine their confidence. This guy has oozes talent but many of you don’t recognise the gem we have here. Give the guy a chance and you will eat your words next season. Shame on you.

same supporters that failed to see the great talents of Paulinho and handed Barcelona the gifted brazilian for peanuts via the chinese league…. to be a successful club the Spurs need to lose the boring second rate supporters and learn from clubs like dortmund what real club supporters are.

I’m sure most of the negative comments on twitter are fake nonsense. Lo Celso is a hell of a player! OK, maybe he’s not yet the creator we crave, but even though we’re playing a different style, if he keeps playing further forward, instead of exhausting himself as our ‘everywhere’ midfielder after 60 or 70 minutes, then I think he’s got a great chance of becoming the type of creator we need in a Mourinho team, if not a Poch team. Right now I think Lo Celso is closer to the qualities of Modric than Eriksen, but if he carries on the way he’s doing, he can one day surpass both of them. If we can also develop or buy another strong DM (and a couple of full/ wing backs) then our midfield is going to become a real power house of this new look Spurs, and whether Lo Celso plays central or attacking midfield, he’s going to develop into a really key player, if he isn’t already.
All we need to do is get back to fitness and form the likes of Alli, Dier etc., and keep developing players like Skipp, Tangwanga etc., and the future’s gonna look great again, although we have still got other squad decisions to make over central defence and cover for Kane.

And if he plays well against Palace, these same “fans” will be drooling over how good he is ..

All the attention span of a fussy toddler .

  • Douglas Bowers says:

Agree that the negative comments are probably from non spurs fans who hope to disrupt the players, in these times of the season it’s impossible to judge what players are really capable of
