Tottenham name their price for want-away loanee

|

Spurs have reportedly laid down their demands, regarding Villareal’s pursuit of a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso. That is according to Estadio Deportivo who say the Lilywhites have already informed Villarreal that Lo Celso would cost around €20m (£17.6m).

That of course is very short of the sum that Spurs paid to bring the midfielder to North London back in 2019. However, with Lo Celso not taking the fancy of the past three Spurs managers, it is probably best the club and player part ways.

But, it now seems that Lo Celso’s future in Eastern Spain may be up in the air, that is because Villareal may potentially not be able to afford the midfielder, with the Spanish side only able to afford the player if they qualify for the Champions League or make some big-money sales.

Luckily, for Lo Celso there is a chance of the yellow submarine qualifying for Europe’s premier competition, with his side currently sitting in sixth, one point off the Champions League places.

Lo Celso, who is currently sat on the side-lines with a hamstring injury, will hope he remains at Villareal come to the end of the season. That is because following Unai Emery’s exit to Aston Villa, Villareal are now managed by Quique Setien who of course managed Lo Celso at Real Betis back in 2019, a period of time in which Lo Celso was one of Europe’s most promising midfielders (yes, I know that is hard to believe).
