FA Cup 4th Round Opponents Revealed

|

The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup took place a short while ago, and Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a trip to Deepdale to take on Championship side Preston North End, where Spurs striker Troy Parrott is currently on loan.

Yesterday, Spurs overcame a resolute Portsmouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to book their place in today’s draw (report here), while Preston beat Huddersfield Town at Deepdale, coming from 1-0 to win 3-1 after a three-goal blitz in the second half.

Preston are doing well in the Championship under Merseysider Ryan Lowe, and are an outside bet for the play-off places, currently lying in tenth and only two points off sixth place.

The last time both sides faced each other was also in Deepdale in the third round of the League Cup (then Carling Cup) in September 2009, where a Peter Crouch hat-trick saw Harry Redknapp’s Spurs beat the Lancashire side 5-1. Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane were also on the scoresheet that day.

Ties for this round are due to be played on the last weekend of January (Friday 27th until Monday 30th), with exact dates and kick-off times yet to be confirmed.

Ties for the fourth round in full are as follows:

  • Fulham v Sunderland
  • Brighton v Liverpool or Wolves
  • Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley v Cardiff or Leeds
  • Bristol City or Swansea v Chesterfield or West Brom
  • Sheffield Wednesday v Fleetwood Town
