Tottenham and Everton eye-up Brazilian defender

|

Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao is reportedly on the shortlist of both Spurs and Everton.

The Brazilian is reportedly not interested in renewing his deal with his current club – a deal that is set expire in 2024.

Becao is another name on a long list of defenders, that Spurs are currently monitoring – a list that includes Stefan de Vrij, Josko Gvardiol and Piero Hincapie.

The defender has been a key component in an Udinese side that has surprisingly challenged the big clubs in Italy this season – currently sitting in the European spots. Becao has been the rock that has provided a base, from which his side can thrive from.

A side that that includes ex-Watford players Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra – as well as Spurs loanee Destiny Udogie.

Becao normally lines up for Udinese on the right-hand side of a back three, which means he could provide competition and cover for Christian Romero.

Although, Becao is not very active in terms of possession compared to Romero, his elite defensive numbers make up for this. As he ranks in the top 2% of centre-backs for tackles won and successful pressures (across Europe’s top five leagues) – over the past 365 days of football.

Udinese may look to cash-in on the defender this January to maximise the fee they can receive for the player, rather than losing him on a free next season.
