Loanee Round Up:

Loanee Round-Up: Parrott and Winks suffer injury setbacks

|

A relatively quiet week for the Spurs loanees, littered with some sad news for a couple of our loanees.

Troy Parrott, who is currently on loan at Championship side Preston North End, is set to be out injured until after the World Cup. Parrott suffered a hamstring injury while celebrating his first goal of the season, in a 3-2 victory over Norwich.

Ryan Lowe, Preston manager, spoke on Parrott’s injury:

“I’m gutted for Troy because obviously he just scored his first Championship goal as well. Although he’s been out the team, he’s been fantastic.

“I think the World Cup’s come at a good time for Troy because he will miss a large part, but the fact of the matter is we’ve got that break.

“We won’t have him for the foreseeable future, but after the World Cup when we’re back in action. Hopefully he’s back fit and ready, so it’ll give us enough time not to rush.”

Regarding Harry Winks, its bad news for the midfielder as it has been reported that his loan spell at Sampdoria may be cut short.

The reports state that if his injury (ankle) does not improve, Sampdoria could send him back to Spurs early. The midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the Italian outfit as he suffers from the same ankle injury that has plagued his career since 2019.

It was hoped that this loan move could be a fresh start for Harry, after struggling to cement his place into the starting line-up, over the past few years.

Fellow midfielder Tanguy Ndombele started for Napoli again, as they came back to win 3-2 against Bologna.

Italian ace, Destiny Udogie played in Udinese’s 0-0 draw against European rivals Lazio, leaving the sides level on points, just outside the Champions League places.

Forward Dane Scarlett started as Portsmouth continued their recent run of poor results as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic.

Joe Rodon did not feature in Rennes’ 3-2 victory against Lyon as he sits out with suspension, following his red card against Nantes, last week.

Giovani Lo Celso also did not feature for his side – for reasons unknown- as Villareal grabbed their first league win since the start of September, defeating Osasuna 2-0.

Sergio Reguilon like Harry winks is still yet to feature for his side, as Atletico Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0.
