Tottenham ‘also keen’ on centre-forward, manager ‘desperate to keep’ him

|

According to The Sun, Tottenham are ‘also keen’ on rivalling Manchester United’s interest in Joshua King, although Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is ‘desperate to keep’ the striker at Dean Court. King is reportedly on Spurs’ radar as they’re seeking a more reliable backup to Harry Kane due to Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen struggling for form and playing time.

Both centre-forwards could be on their way out within two transfer windows, so Mauricio Pochettino will need some cover for Kane. We at Vital Spurs suggested Tottenham should consider a move for Callum Wilson, but The Sun believe his strike-partner may be the one recruited either in January or at the end of the season.

King has scored and created seven goals in 15 Premier League games, most recently grabbing an assist in Bournemouth’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion last Saturday. The 26-year-old boasts excessive pace and has been full of goals in recent years, so he could be ideal to come into the Tottenham squad and take the burden off Kane from time to time.

The Norwegian international, who boasts 12 goals for his country, wouldn’t come cheap. The Sun rate King at around £25m, which may be too much for Tottenham to gamble. Spurs would surely want a far more consistent forward that price.
