Spurs need to bury goalscoring woes against side eager to take another top-six scalp – Opinion

|

We might only just be three weeks into 2020, yet for Tottenham and their ventures in the Premier League, it has been nothing short of unremarkable.

Spurs have only managed one point in their first three games of the New Year and remain one of three teams in the Football League this year to not score a goal in their respective division as match results from BBC Sport show.

Times have been tough for Jose Mourinho and company, with Spurs still on the lookout for a new striker this transfer window with Harry Kane’s return date from injury fluctuating with each passing update as well as the dream of finishing in the top-four demising day by day.

It will take a massive effort from Tottenham to make this season a memorable one, yet for Spurs, the club need to start taking small steps in the right direction if they are to get anything out of this campaign, and a good performance against Norwich City will be an ideal starting point.

The Canaries remain rooted to the bottom Premier League table despite claiming a 1-0 win against Bournemouth on the weekend, yet Daniel Farke’s side have shown this season they are more than capable of performing against sides in the top-six, with Norwich drawing with the likes of Spurs and Arsenal as well as famously beating Manchester City in September.

With survival in the English top-flight the main goal for Norwich this season, the Norfolk-based side will be keen to add another top-six scalp to their collection, and Tottenham need to ensure they don’t allow this to happen by burying their goalscoring woes in recent weeks and by putting on a performance the supporters can be proud of.

2020 has been a bad one for Tottenham so far, but Spurs can undo their wrongs with a big performance against Norwich, which could kick-start something wonderful for the north London side.
