Roy Keane claims Kane needs to leave Spurs

|

This story just won’t go away no matter how hard us Spurs fans pray and hope it does, and yet again, another former player turned pundit has weighed in with their opinion that it is time for Harry Kane to leave Tottenham.

This time, Roy Keane was the man who suggested that the England captain should be at another team at the start of next season and while his comments are extremely frustrating, it’s hard to argue against them.

“If you are a top player you want to win the big trophies,” said Keane speaking on ITV ahead of England’s 0-2 win at Albania.

“There’s a big few months coming up for Tottenham – the League Cup final and can they get into the top four?

“That’s a huge question mark, will it influence him?

“He’s under contract and Tottenham will have a lot to say about it. But if you are in his shoes this summer, l think he has to move to win the big prizes. He’s not going to do it at Tottenham.”

We would all love to see Kane truly recognised as one of the world’s greatest players like we already know he is, but will it take a Premier League title or Champions League title for the world to truly start giving him the credit he deserves, and will he do it with us?

Spurs fans would certainly like to think so, but it will take a lot of investment in the summer for us to make a challenge again next season.

Sky Sports have reported that, thankfully for us, it would be near impossible for any team in the world right now to afford the striker, but what we really need is something to end the rumours once and for all because all this speculation won’t be doing his mind set any good.

Youngster Dane Scarlett did sign his first professional contract yesterday and he definitely could be Kane’s successor at the club, because by the time Kane turns 35 and nearing the end of his career, Scarlett won’t even be 25 yet, and his best years would still be yet to come.

Carlos Vinicius is also a permanent transfer target for the club among others after his decent loan spell this season with us – but at 26-years-old, it’s unlikely the Brazilian will ever have the potential to truly replace Kane at Spurs.

One thing is for sure, this summer is going to be a long and gruelling one for us fans with all these rumours flying around.
