With the summer transfer rumour mill winding up into a higher gear over the last few months, Tottenham Hotspur have found themselves linked with Benfica starlet Jota on quite a few occasions, but the speculation about our interest in the talented 20-year-old wide attacking player has always been typical red top fare, with little substance attached.
Of course, we aren’t the only club said to have an interest in him and the usual Premier League clubs get their name-check, but outlet Record have put the cat amongst the pigeons, with a recent claim that we have now stepped up our interest in him and have formally made an approach over his signature.
With only six appearances for Benfica’s first team this year, he seems to be on a good development curve as he’s contributed nine goals and eight assists in 47 appearances for Benfica B and given we have also been linked with Joao Felix – this one seems a touch more likely to me.
Next Ronaldo

Sign him up. Think of all the calenders we will sell through the Spurs Shop to drooling women. And men for that matter. Might buy myself

Huge move could now see a 4-3-3 adopted by spurs with jota being Lucas and sons understudy. Would be a great signing!

He's extremely raw but clearly talented. He's barely had any playing time with our first team so it surprises me at how much he's been linked away – everyone trying to find that diamond in the rough.
