Spurs Star Makes Not So Shocking CL Final Claim

|

Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane has been making confident sounds about his potential involvement in our upcoming Champions League Final against Liverpool out in Madrid at the beginning of next month, and it was always only going to be a matter of time before he made a claim that could be described as a little more than a ‘confident sound’.

With just under two weeks until the showpiece and history creating 90 minutes, Kane has now made his move and he’s quoted by the Evening Standard this week as saying he’s now very confident that he will be fit enough to take up a place in the matchday squad for the game.

Having been selected in Gareth Southgate’s England squad last week, there was an air of inevitability about this claim, but plenty of fans will be boosted by news that he could at least be an option off the bench if needed.

Naturally given his time out though sharpness would be an issue, and we saw that on his last return and it caused a few issues of its own as other players seemed to step off a touch with the talisman back, so it’ll be an interesting decision by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

If he’s fit, he’s guaranteed to play, I just think it would make more sense in the final half hour of the game when his sharpness can be better balanced against some opposition tiredness.

“Rehab is going well. I started straight-line running this week and I have to start training even harder to prove myself to the gaffer.”
