Report: European giants favours a move for key Spurs figure to fill major position

|

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a managerial target for European giants Bayern Munich as Niko Kovac’s role with the Bundesliga job remains to be on the rocks.

Sport 1 claim that the Tottenham boss, as well as the likes of Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick, are all on Bayern’s radar as a potential replacement for Kovac, who has faced criticism from a vast majority of supporters since his appointment from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018.

The report also states that Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is a personal admirer of Pochettino, who has come under fire by Tottenham fans for their poor start to the season that has seen the north London side crash out of the League Cup to League 2 side Colchester United as well as currently see Spurs sit 11th in the Premier League table.

The Bavarian side are a club Tottenham knows all too well this season, as the Bundesliga titans handed Spurs one of their most embarrassing results in recent memory this year as Bayern obliterated Pochettino’s men 7-2 at home in the group stage of the Champions League.

Yet whether or not Pochettino will depart Spurs for Bayern is another question in of its own.

The Tottenham boss has been linked with moves to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past as per The Daily Mail and The Times, yet given how different Bayern is to these two super-clubs, a switch to Germany might be too unrealistic for the Argentinian given the difference in culture, style of football and language.

Pochettino’s time at Tottenham might seemingly be coming to a close, yet a move to the Bundesliga might not be the former Southampton manager’s next destination depending what occurs over the next few months in the world of football.
