Opinion: Tottenham fans will have blood on their hands should this man leave the club

|

Tottenham fans – and football fans in general for that matter – can be an awfully fickle bunch. The Lilywhites are like every other fan base in that sense, and when things aren’t going their club’s way some of them can be very quick to get cold feet and call for change.

However, with the recent speculation surrounding manager Mauricio Pochettino – with rumours flying around social media that he’s had a spectacular bust-up with Daniel Levy – even as Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has proved it to be nonsense, the fans are calling for Poch’s head.

As a result of that, and the poor form of the Lilywhites, Pochettino is being looked at as a man who is running out of time, and the rumours of a new manager being appointed are already swirling, with thesackrace.com touting names such as Jose Mourinho, Brendan Rodgers, Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri as potential gaffers.

As far as we’re concerned, though, keeping hold of Pochettino is the best way of going about this situation. Back in Poch’s debut season, the Lilywhites had just five wins after 12 games, this season they’ve got four, and considering what the Argentine went on to do after those first 12 games, reforming the squad and making the north London side Champions League regulars, we back him to do it again.

Unfortunately, some fans are too short-sighted to see this, and they’re craving the new manager bump as they desperately crave silverware as if the FA Cup or Carabao Cup would bring as much as to the club as playing in the Champions League, and with the fan base growing in their calls of Poch out, there is plenty to be concerned about.

Prior to Pochettino, the likes of Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood were simply not good enough to take Tottenham to the next level, and there are simply no guarantees that the right manager will come into the club should the Argentine leave.

Is Pochettino still the right man for Tottenham Hotspur?

Yes, absolutely!

No way, Poch out

If action is taken, it will almost certainly have been influenced by the pressure from the clueless Spurs supporters who want instant success and are ready to bin Pochettino, although it must be said not all fans want him out, and whatever happens to the club after Poch leaves – if he does indeed walk away – is on those fan’s hands.
