Match Thread – Spurs Looking To Spear The Red Devils Ahead Of A Well Earned Break

|

Not exactly fresh from our stomping 7-2 victory over Maccabi Haifa on Thursday night, Tottenham Hotspur are back in action on Sunday as we make the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

We can again expect changes from manager Jose Mourinho given our ridiculous fixture list but for a variety of reasons, I imagine we’ll go pretty strong against United, especially as we are then going into the October international break and aren’t back in action until the 17th of the month.

We then just pray that international managers show a bit more sense than usual when it comes to our players.

Going into the break, getting that second Premier League win of the 2020/21 campaign, you’d have to acknowledge it as a very good start to the year given the minutes played and the progression we have made in Europe and the EFL Cup.

We’d have all taken that kind of start when we realised how cramped our fixtures would be over this period and we might even have Son Heung-Min back on the bench which would be a further boost.

Manchester United...

Win

Draw

Lose

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

What a day of football (again!).

  • TQ2Spurs says:

It’s not over yet HT, and to be fair, they are at home and we did it at OT.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Wow……Barclay and Grealish look good together!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    lol……Barkley, not the bank.

  • 123spurs says:

united definitely need to cell harry Maguire

Well spurs turned over the OT tradition of losing. lol… The jose out posters have gone quiet, and even the beginnings of acceptance the jose results and tactical methods.

TK you got your demand fulfilled tonight, as did all spurs fans. Credit to the players, a penalty in 1st min, fight back in 4th min. and going onto score 6 goals and demoralise Man Utd. If only we had done this against Liverpool in CL Final. Poch did well for us, but was too nice a guy.. Jose has a bite / edge and this is why he has won 25 trophies as a manager. Also it has shown in players performances and in Levy transfers. So everyone at THFC seems to be on the same page… Win silverware this season. COYS

  • block 108 spurs says:

What is scary… Bale & vinny still to play… other PL teams will now be very worried playing spurs, as our striker quality has gone up so that the performances in this season’s games can be maintained where we faltered with injuries to HK10 sonny etc. last season.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

It’s going to be an interesting weekend of fixtures after the international break.

Liverpool have been fined for breaking covid rules by letting more then 6 in

    Blimey
What a result !! The first half was most enjoyable.Gas taken off in the 2nd ?
Son”s injury healed amazingly well .God he is quick
In an earlier post I did mention our right side which had more pressure put on it from United than the left ?
They did appear to get more from attacking that side throughout the match when they were able .
    Comments ?

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Allan….most of their attacks go through Rashford down their left/opposition right.

  • Niall D says:

    Guys
Need to mention Hojberg here. He ran the midfield.
He out muscled their mid field spreading the ball. Not just side ways and backwards all the time.
Perhaps some of you will now understand my dislike of Winks.
This is what the player in that position should be doing.
Winks is the type to come on when we are 3 or 4 up just to close off a game.
Never thought I’d say this but Aurier was fantastic.
All round great performance by all the team
    Inspired by HK and Sonny.
Where are the JM haters now.
    All gone quiet.

    What a week!

That’s the first time I’ve seen a United team completely give up. None of them wanted to be on the park in the second half. Their subs must have been dreading coming on.

The last time Pool lost 7-2 I watched it at The Lane. It was Easter Monday and Pool had won 5-2 against us three days earlier on Good Friday. There was also another match we played between these two games!! See Jose, we can play three times a week …. but only now and again.

  • TK says:

As I wrote at the beginning of the thread, I want us to win even though JM works here. lol
I don’t like the man as a human being. I watched him through the Portuguese language press when he was at Porto and he is not the kind of person I admire. The self proclaimed Special One my ass. I’d get much greater joy from having someone else as the gaffter when we win. Having said that, I’ll still enjoy our winning. But I’ll not likely start to like JM. If my son or grandson became the kind of person JM is, I’d feel I’d not done a good job as a father, even it he/they made much worldly success. Money and cups aren’t the important things in life. The only person I watched who called himself the greatest and was able to carry it off was Muhammed Ali. JM ain’t him. Ali was jibing the racists. What’s Mourinho doing it for? Not for the same kind of motives.

  • TK says:

I still want to get rid of JM. Not just because he invented bus parking (and blamed in on THFC, by the way). I don’t like his ego and his constant carping and blame casting. I’d rather a decent bloke at N17. the devil shouldn’t be invited into heaven.
