With another laughable two day break between fixtures, Tottenham Hotspur’s Thursday evening was preoccupied by our Europa League Qualifying Play Off tie with Maccabi Haifa.
Manager Jose Mourinho’s side should’ve been in good spirits following our Tuesday evening adventures against Chelsea, but undoubtedly we would again see changes in an attempt to keep people fresh and avoid injuries.
It was still a strong squad though, and we started very brightly with Harry Kane opening the scoring two minutes into the tie. Despite dominating we still gave up chances and in the 17th minute they made it count to tie the scores up again. It sparked a bit of a reaction and three minutes later Lucas Moura had reestablished our advantage.
Ten minutes before the break Giovani Lo Celso woke up, scoring in the 36th and 39th minutes to give us a comfortable 4-1 lead.
What did the second half have in store?
Well, more goals. The visitors won a penalty and buried it in minute 52, Kane helped himself to a penalty four minutes later and then completed his hattrick in the 74th and going into the final ten, it was 6-2.
I’m assuming Harry’s genitals were fine and the gloriously named Abu Fani failed to score.
Dele Alli made it 7-2 from the penalty spot in the 91st minute and the fat lady had well and truly sung.
