Tottenham Hotspur fans will reasonable memories will certainly be aware of the name, Donny van de Beek, as the young attacking midfielder certainly impressed many as we faced off against Ajax in the latter stages of last season’s Champions League.
The 22-year-old Dutchman had an almost immediate impact on Spurs fans (click here) and there was almost a groundswell on social media, especially in light of some tentative transfer suggestions, that he should be made one of our top targets for the summer – especially given the ongoing (even at that stage) Christian Eriksen rumours.
With a good goal and assist record in the campaign of 2018/19, he’s continued to impress this year and in eleven starting appearances so far, he’s already chipped in with seven goals and five assists according to Whoscored, so clearly he’s proving his talent year on year.
Whilst the speculation certainly isn’t new, it’s reared its head again this week and the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool are given the obligatory namecheck, but it seems the clamour to see him at White Hart Lane hasn’t abated over the last few months.
