A £32m Question For Spurs As Pochettino Rumours Swirl – Report Suggests Fans Have Their Answer

|

With the October international break hitting this last fortnight, given Tottenham Hotspur’s mixed start to life in the 2019/20 campaign, it was probably inevitable that we’d see further managerial speculation when it came to manager Mauricio Pochettino’s future at White Hart Lane and amidst reports that we have ‘upped’ our interest in Jose Mourinho, other reports suggest that the club have doubled down on Poch and expect him to stay.

The latest round of Mourinho claims come from the likes of The Sun and they seem based on anything you would actually call concrete details, however, Daily Mail earlier contradicted such claims when reporting that the club have sent scout Steve Hitchen to South America in an effort to bolster our Argentine options.

The obvious read across from that is it’s a show of faith from Spurs in Pochettino’s continued charge of first team matters, despite the frustrating results we have seen so far this campaign.

Whilst The Sun report, and claims of that ilk, are probably more media friendly in today’s world and Mourinho’s record speaks for itself (as does the state he now seems to depart clubs in), there’s also a very good article from Guillem Balague on the BBC that at least to me, makes far more plausible reading as to our gaffer’s future and the current problems within the club.

Fans will inevitably make their own minds up and they will no doubt have their own preferred outcomes here, but we can probably expect a plethora of headline grabbing claims (with little substance) until results on the pitch improve – and then we’ll be back to the tired suggestions of Manchester United and Real Madrid.
