It’s fair to say that England’s clash with Spain will live long in the memory of fans around the country. After such an impressive World Cup display, the Three Lions haven’t been great since their return back home, but they really turned it on in Seville.
A stunning first-half display left England fans in euphoria as they went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
Unfortunately, they weren’t able to hold onto such a dominant lead, with two second-half goals taking the shine off of what was an unbelievable night for England.
Tottenham players were at the core of the result, with the likes of Kieran Trippier, Harry Winks and Harry Kane all at the centre of the performance.
Unsurprisingly, the win means a lot to the Tottenham players, and that’s highlighted by a recent image posted by Trippier on his personal Instagram page. Celebrating the win, he described the display as a ‘huge’ performance – but it’s his face that tells the whole story in this instance, with a big grin highlighting his delight.
Trippier started ahead of former-Lilywhite Kyle Walker, and he certainly paid back Gareth Southgate’s faith in him. He looked solid on the flanks, and he kept the Spain attack quiet throughout the clash.
He, and his teammates, certainly deserve all the praise and celebrations that they will enjoy this week.
