With Tottenham Hotspur crashing out of both domestic Cups last week as we suffered and EFL Cup defeat to Chelsea and an FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend, much has been spoken about Spurs’ ambition to win silverware.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino gave his own justifications in the aftermath of the game receiving some mixed reactions from the fanbase as they read differently into his words, but centre-half Toby Alderweireld has also given his two penneth worth, and fans on social media largely liked what the 29-year-old had to say.
They also especially loved the tone of his words which left many of them reassessing the speculation about his future. With the 12 month option enacted by the club, leading to a release clause coming into play for a period in the summer window, no new contract has yet been agreed.
"It's a big step we took as a team to be there and for the club it's important to get Champions League football."

He weirdly doesn’t sound like he’s ready to pack his bags just yet.

People say he is leaving. He has never stated that. In this interview he makes me feel like this is HIS team. Hope he stays another year, or longer ????
