Tottenham fans have had a rollercoaster of a season so far, and we haven’t even got through to December yet. The Lilywhites have got a lot of time to sort things out under Jose Mourinho, though, and Alasdair Gold has given the fans a positive update.
Signing up Toby Alderweireld to a new deal, given his and Mourinho's mutual affection, would seem to be the best decision for both parties. Bigger wages for the player and saves the club money they'd only spend in trying to bring in a replacement. https://t.co/KBqpthKXco

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has taken to Twitter with an article about a new contract for Toby Alderweireld. Now that there is a fresh challenge at Tottenham for the Belgian it looks like he could be set to stay beyond this summer and sign a new contract.
It wouldn’t be the most ridiculous thing to do. The Lilywhites would be able to tie down a top defender for at least a couple more years whilst the player would get better wages, and whilst Spurs would be paying Alderweireld more money, they’d save on buying a replacement.
Should Alderweireld be given a new contract?
Yes

Sign him up and watch his form improve, this has been a problem for a long time. Get Jan signed up too!

Sign him up ASAP

Rebuild defense around Alderweireld is good idea, but present wide backs must go out asap.

He made about 8 of his trademark long, raking diagonal passes yesterday – something that has been absent from his game of late – good to see again.

Keeping Toby and Jan for even 2 years significantly improves the situation. Love Eriksen to stay but seems clear he wants to go

Playing him on the right and not the left will help IMO

The fans are quite obviously on board with the idea of tying their defender down for a few more years, and the sooner the contract is signed the better.
