“Weird Situation” – Former Spurs Striker Expects 23 y/o Star To Be The Next To Depart

|

With the future of Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane coming back front and centre this week following his recent interview with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, the press are naturally struggling to find relevant content at the moment and former striker Darren Bent has decided to help out, by suggesting Dele Alli would likely be the next to depart White Hart Lane.

Like a number of players at Spurs, 23-year-old Alli has had a mixed season based on his own standards in the campaign of 2019/20, but he was one player who seemed to benefit from the arrival of manager Jose Mourinho as he had more of a purple patch in front of goal in the build-up to the New Year.

Speaking to Football Insider this week, Bent admitted with the current pause in the fixture list it was a ‘weird situation’ for everyone, but he still felt Alli was more likely to secure a move away than Kane was.

Is Alli Likely To Go Before Kane?

Yes

No

“At the minute you don’t quite know what’s going to happen. If you’d have asked me before who would have been the first to potentially go, I wouldn’t have said Harry Kane. I would have potentially seen a Dele Alli or someone like that going before him. It’s a really weird situation for them to be in.”

Given Kane’s association with Spurs and his own admittance that he would consider moving on if the club weren’t moving in the right direction, I can sort of see Bent’s line of thought here. For us though, we have to get back to improvement and Alli’s own contribution is also important there, but there will be those who question whether Mourinho’s more pragmatic style of play will ultimately suit Alli, despite the boost he seemed to receive a few months back.
