‘We are a different club at this level’ – Tottenham dealt a blow as Mourinho rules out January transfer

|

Tottenham fans may be desperate for a slick and talented #10 to be signed once the January window opens, and who can blame them given Christian Eriksen is soon to be out, but it looks like that may be easier said than done, as Jose Mourinho has ruled out a January move.

The new Tottenham manager hasn’t said that nobody will be brought in when the mid-season window opens, but he’s categorically ruled out a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder is a special talent, but he won’t get a chance to show it off in north London.

Mourinho, whose comments can be read on Sky Sports, has made it very clear that his countryman won’t be signed and the fans will not at all be happy with the reasoning as to why the Portuguese end product machine isn’t going to be signing for the club.

The reason as to why was outlined clearly by Mourinho, as he said:

‘I would definitely say no because Bruno is a player of a level and value that is not for us.’

‘We are not a club that is going to make big transfers in the market, nor is it going towards players who are already developed or at a certain level of expectation, also economically.’

‘We are a different club at this level.’

Do we need Bruno Fernandes?

Yes

No

This won’t make for easy reading for the Lilywhites, but at least they haven’t been left with the hope of signing Fernandes just for it to come to nothing when the window slams shut on January 31st, and this at least gives them a chance to fully focus their support into getting behind the majestic Dele Alli.
