Tottenham In Pole Position To Capture Portuguese International Starlet

|

With most eyes being on the final Premier League action of the 2018/19 campaign as Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Everton to the new White Hart Lane Stadium, there was an interesting rumour on Saturday when it came to Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.

The incredibly highly rated 20-year-old already has two senior caps to his name for Portugal’s senior side, and having stepped up from Benfica’s B squad this year, the central midfielder has made 37 appearances this season but the expectation is there’s plenty more to come from him in the future.

Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with him for a while and his representatives were apparently in London last week for provisional talks, and the Mirror claimed over the weekend that the talks were held with us as we’ve moved into pole position to capture the £35million rated player.

It’s the Mirror so I don’t think anyone should get too excited, but again compared to some of the speculation we’ve seen this year, this one does tick more of the boxes given what we’ve seen from manager Mauricio Pochettino, so it might be a name worth remembering.
