Tottenham forward will miss Champions League final, player ‘allowed to leave on holiday’

Vincent Janssen will miss Tottenham’s Champions League final with Liverpool and has been ‘allowed to leave on holiday’, reports Alasdair Gold of Football.London. The 24-year-old has struggled for form and playing time since joining Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in 2016 and is expected to be sold this summer.

Tottenham’s final game of the season is the Champions League final, but Mauricio Pochettino left Janssen out of the squad in 2018/19 so he wouldn’t be making the trip to the Wanda Metropolitano. The centre-forward is therefore free to have an early holiday and may not return for pre-season.

Janssen has made just three appearances for Spurs, all of which have come in the final few weeks of the campaign. The Dutch international has made only four appearances since May 2017 and hasn’t rippled the back of the net in the Premier League for more than two years.

With Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente and Heung-min Son ahead of Janssen in the pecking order, he’s unlikely to feature under Pochettino next season. if Tottenham can find a suitor for the centre-forward, Janssen is expected to be granted a departure as he’s in the final year of his deal.
