Report: Tottenham may have to pay £24.7m and £2.34m in wages to sign Newcastle man

According to CalcioNapoli24, Tottenham have made bid for Ayoze Perez who could have an uncertain future at Newcastle this summer. The 25-year-old has been in fine form over the last nine months and is expected to be the subject of interest for many clubs – Inter Milan and Napoli.

Spurs reportedly offered £24.7m for his signature and could fund the move by selling Erik Lamela this summer. Perez will reportedly be the Argentine’s replacement. The former Spanish u21 international earns £2.34m-a-year/£45k-per-week at St James’ Park so he won’t break the bank.

Tottenham need a new striker as backup to Harry Kane, as Fernando Llorente is out of contract this summer and has no new deal on the table. Vincent Janssen’s stint in London should come to an end this summer too, as the Dutch international has struggled for form and playing time under Pochettino.

Perez has made 37 Premier League appearances this season, scoring and creating 14 goals. The 25-year-old has made a total of 195 appearances since joining Newcastle from CD Tenerife in 2014 and may have played in his final outing.

Reports in Italy say Tottenham will fight to bring the striker to London, but Spurs haven’t made any immediate progress as of yet.
