Tottenham eye £21.6m-valued colossus, on Levy’s radar for “several months” – Report

|

According to an exclusive report from the Daily Express, Spurs have entered ‘talks‘ to sign long-time target Thomas Meunier on a free deal this summer following Jose Mourinho’s eagerness to land the Paris-Saint Germain colossus – with Liverpool and Man United also on his trail.

Meunier, who has started 14 games under Thomas Tuchel this season, is currently just weeks away from becoming a free agent following his contract situation.

At the moment, he is valued at £21.6 million by Transfermarkt, but unless the Belgian performs a sharp u-turn on his stance, it looks like he will be leaving the Parc des Princes on a free deal.

This has arguably prompted chairman Daniel Levy and co to take action on a player they have been monitoring for ‘several months‘ according to this report, with recent financial difficulties prompting our club to only consider loan deals, free agents and any would-be bargain buys.

As per the Athletic, Spurs have had to take out a £175 million corporate loan through the Bank of England due to loss of revenue caused by recent events – resulting in Mourinho’s transfer kitty becoming slender with little room to manoeuvre.

Indeed, as a result, the Portuguese gaffer has apparently already spoken to Meunier and his agent Pini Zahavi in an attempt to persuade him to join Tottenham this summer.

However, the Lilywhites are reportedly not alone, with United and Liverpool also on the prowl as the player soon becomes available for free.

Whether or not we beat the two Premier League giants to Meunier remains to be seen, but it will be an interesting tussle.

Levy needs to spend a good chunk of the money to buy some talent or there 100 percent gonna end off bottom half of the table next season. I say it again sell kane invest in 4 or 5 world class players for the money.
