Spurs confirmed on their official website that the former Newcastle midfielder has undergone surgery to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee after picking up the injury in Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Southampton on New Years Day.

The injury to Sissoko means that Tottenham will be with only three fit central midfielders for this weekend’s game against Liverpool with Tanguy Ndombele also set to miss the clash against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying side.
