Marcus Edwards will seek to leave the club on a permanent basis this summer, according to the Guardian.
The player, once dubbed a “mini Messi” by Mauricio Pochettino, has come to the conclusion that he won’t be able to break into the first team, and wants a transfer to get more game time.
Fans on Twitter were lamenting what they see as a talent going to waste:
Not surprised whatsoever. Has failed his chance at Norwich. Such a talent wasted he is

He’s done absolutely nothing to justify displacing Son, Dele or Eriksen though ????????♂️

Another Taarabt

Couldn’t get in the Norwich team on loan and clearly has some issues. If Poch doesn’t want to keep him then that is all good with me. Poch will have tried to sort him out

Lets not decide too soon. Look what happened with federicks , we have paid 22 million on aurier and got worse than federicks who was sold for less than 1 million

Another great young talent to waste then ????

What a shame. Met his very proud and charming Dad a couple of years ago and it was a very exciting for me to hear of Marcus’s untapped potential. Funnily enough his Dad said Marcus’s brother was a better player than Marcus!

He made 1 start whilst on loan at Norwich. A ‘mini Messi’ should be tearing that league up. Obviously didn’t impress there either. Reputation only gets you so far.

His own fault had his chance and blew it

Talent needs good attitude and hardwork. Unfortunate

Verdict:
The 19-year-old performed well in both the UEFA Youth League and in Premier League 2 for the academy this season, but his loan spell at Norwich City didn’t go to plan.
After joining the Canaries in January, he made just one substitute appearance against Fulham, and his loan spell was cut short in April.
Some believe that the player has an attitude problem, and that could be the root cause of his progression stalling, but we’ll likely find out next season if he gets his wish and moves to another team.
