City Reportedly Make £53m Bid For Dutch Star After Spurs Fail With £48m Offer

|

Ajax have rejected a €55m (£48m) bid from us for centre-back Matthijs De Ligt, according to TMW.

The Italian rumour mongers report that Manchester City are also in the race to sign the 18-year-old and have made a €60m (£53m) bid of their own.

That proposal is expected to be rejected though as Ajax try to keep hold of the defender this summer.

Juventus are also said to be interested in the Dutch teenager, but they have been priced out of the bidding by the two Premier League clubs.

TMW are not a reliable source so take this with a massive pinch of salt, but it is likely that we would have to break our transfer record if we want to land De Ligt.

The centre-half is in high demand, with the Sun reporting that five other clubs, including City, Juve, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing the player.
