Well this is certainly a new name on me but Tottenham Hotspur are being tentatively linked with Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez.
The 25-year-old gave an interview to Marca at the tail end of last week, and although the bulk of the piece obviously concerns his thoughts about Newcastle and a desire to return to Spain and La Liga at some point in his career, they credit both Spurs and Manchester United as having had a historical interest in him.
I certainly don’t remember that, but maybe it’s me. There’s no direct indication that he’s currently a target for manager Mauricio Pochettino but they do leave that somewhat open ended.
Follow up reports more strongly suggest his words were a hint about a potential summer move really, but that’s complete speculation based on my translation. I struggle to believe there can be anything in this at all.
As these things tend to do these days though, it caused a bit of a stir on social media.
Boring. One good game and we’re linked with him. Shock.
