Spurs reportedly targeting cut-price French forward

|

According to German publication BILD, Borussia Monchengladbach are willing to sell Spurs target Marcus Thuram for a cut-price fee in January, to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer.

The report states that Thuram will be available for the bargain fee of £8.7 million, which has attracted the interest of Spurs, as well as Premier League, rivals Arsenal and Liverpool – via 90min

Marcus, son of French legend Lilian Thuram, has been one of the most in-form forwards across Europe this season – contributing to 17 goals in 17 games.

The underlying stats (provided from FB Ref) also paint a good picture for any potential move. Thuram is clinical in the final third with the Frenchman ranking in the top 2% of forwards (across Europe’s top five leagues) for shots on target (1.68) per game.

When it comes down to ranking forwards in the modern game, xG has become one of the main tools to measure a player’s ability in the attacking third. In terms of Non-Penalty xG Thuram ranks in the top 5% of forwards across Europe’s top five leagues – ranking above elite forwards such as Karim Benzema and Tottenham’s own, Harry Kane.

Spurs fans, would you sign Marcus Thuram?

YES

NO

Any player in an Antonio Conte system must be hard-working and Thuram is no stranger to grafting for his team – with the forward ranking in the top 11% of forwards for interceptions per game.

At the height of 6ft 2, Thuram is a strong and powerful forward which will fit the trend of Conte’s side, with Spurs currently having the title of the tallest team in the league – according to The Athletic.

All these factors surely make it no brainer for the Spurs hierarchy, with the club needing to make squad improvements in January, if the Lilywhites have any chance of succeeding come the end of the season.

Bon Dia amigos de VS. Good morning one and all.
I don’t know whether it was something odd in my connection but I wasn’t able to open any site connected to Vital Football yesterday. I thought the site was done and dusted forever, which came to me as no surprise. But here it is today. I still don’t expect it to survive as it’s largely been abandoned, at least the Spurs part has. We’re down from one thousand stitches on a thread to an average of perhaps less than one. So I persist as a function of personal perversity. A lonely eye seeking companionship. lol. Seeking someone to accuse me of knobheadedness. Of course, if no one will do that, I do it by self proclamation.

As to this latest speculation about a signing in January–I’ve no real opinion. WT heck?

The first player at the WC has spoken out about the oppressive nature of the host country, and it wasn’t our dear captain, Hugo Lloris, who seems to think being polite is to be silent. But being silent is the most grave of offenses, for silence condones oppression. He who remain silent in the face of wrongfulness is accepting the wrongs.

I’m ashamed for our captain and would like to see the armband ripped from his arm upon return to London. I pray for someone on our team to speak up and speak loudly.

They were doing system maintenance yesterday TK, would be nice if they gave a heads up beforehand.

The people running this site seem to be dedicated to alienating their base.

PY, I’m afraid you’re right about the general cowardice of those who make money (gobs of it) in football, but it truly is shameful to maintain silence about the reality of this WC. Sickening. And Britain, America, France, etc., sell weapons to people like this. Money is God, is seems, and the Gay Science wasn’t entirely off base when it declared God is dead. The name of Nietzsche’s book, by the way, before the word gay took on a different meaning. Being gay is a felony in Qatar, which makes the reference even more apt.

Personal note: When I was about 17 and learning about sex I decided that if I found the right man I’d experiment with gay sex. Now moving into my late 70s I still haven’t found that right man. Damned weakness for women, though. Haven’t been able to turn any of them down yet. Well, not that many could I turn down. So I might be safe in Qatar in terms of sexual desires, but I know I couldn’t keep my mouth shut and words would end me in jail.

I’d love to see a brazil vs. england match somewhere along the line, but I’d rather the whole WC was skipped this year. No excuse except corrupt greed to hold it this year and in this way.

At my age every day I’m down for system maintenance and I don’t announce it, but then I’m not frustrating all of this important corner of Spurs World by needing maintenance.
