Spurs remain keen on 23-year-old Italian midfielder

|

Calciomercato have reported that the Spurs hierarchy hold a keen interest in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Spurs are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs to hold an interest in the Italy international, with Manchester United and Brighton also keeping tabs on the player.

Frattesi also has admirers in his homeland, as Jose Mourinho’s Roma were close to securing his signature in the summer window, however the deal fell through.

It is no surprise why Paratici and Conte are keeping their eyes on the Sassuolo man due to Paratici often diving into the Italian market – which has saw him pick up players like Destiny Udogie and Ivan Perisic in the past.

Frattesi – who recently featured in England’s nations league clash with Italy – has caught the eye of many suitors following his breakout season, in which he contributed to 8 goals in 36 games.

The £30 million rated midfielder likes to get involved in the final third, shown by the fact he has 3 goals already this season.

If you were to dive deeper into the stats you would see his elite attacking numbers, with the Italian ranking in the top 2% of midfielders (across Europe’s top five leagues) for xG per 90 and shots per 90. He also likes to dribble and beat-a-man which is shown by the fact he ranks in the top 5% for carries into the penalty area.

Although the midfielder is fantastic in the final third, he is not very active in pressing and defending which may become an issue in an Antonio Conte system. However, he could possibly add that attacking spark that Spurs currently lack in midfield.

Spurs fans would you take him?
