Spurs linked with Austrian giant to replace Vinicius or Kane

|

With Champions League qualification becoming a smaller likelihood with every passing week while Spurs remain in this kind of form, it’s becoming more and more likely that Harry Kane will leave.

There are plenty of options that Spurs could take should the worst possible scenario happens, as Dane Scarlett could be promoted straight into the first team for regular football, or even Troy Parrott who hasn’t had a great year on-loan at Millwall and then Ipswich.

And if Kane leaves, it will leave the club with no senior strikers as Carlos Vinicius is unlikely to return on a permanent transfer due to the expensive price tag on him, and Spurs will be left to go into the transfer market for a replacement.

Spurs have already been linked with one Stuttgart forward already this year in the shape of Argentine Nicolas Gonzalez, and now we are reportedly looking at another – Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

Kalajdzic, 23, is a 6ft 7in old-fashioned number nine who is fantastic in the air, but also a very good finisher on the ground too, and he has scored 14 goals in the Bundesliga this season while starting just 17 times.

The Austrian is in brilliant form as well, scoring nine goals in his last ten league games for Stuttgart, averaging a rating of 7/10 across the entire Bundesliga season, despite making ten appearances from the bench.

He has been heavily linked with West Ham as well as Borussia Dortmund to replace Erling Haaland if the Norwegian leaves in the summer, but Kalajdzic has already admitted he favours a move to Liverpool.

Should the striker arrive in North London, Sergio Reguilon will be happy to know that there will be someone even better than Kane in the air for him to assist with his usually brilliant crosses.

The signing would also mean that Spurs could still pursue Paulo Dybala too should they still be interested in the summer, and the Juventus winger would also be a fantastic option to play to the side of Kalajdzic with Heung-min Son on the other.

The situation is far from ideal, but it is good to see more and more names being touted as potential replacements, and it shows that the club do have a plan for if the worst case scenario does indeed happen.
